PANTHER CHAMELEON/OTHER CHAMELEONS CAGE NEEDS
How big a chameleon cage? Measure your cham, nose to tailtip. Then, calculate the cage as follows: cage width= twice cham length, cage height four times cham length, and cage length twice times cham length. So, if the little cham gets no bigger than 1 foot, then the cage should be 2ft wide, 4ft high and 2ft or longer cage length...What about the type of cage? Screen over glass every time.
Chameleon Lighting for should be full spectrum lighting and address U.V. radiation needs. Full spectrum bulbs can be used in conjunction with black lights for maximim benefits. Incandescent light bulbs with reflectors situated over select basking areas will provide the proper daytime heat gradient. Nighttime heat can be provided by either red light bulbs or room heaters. Body Temp for Chameleons: General temperature 80-90 degree F day, 70-78 degree F night. Basking temperatures under heat lamps 90-95 degree F. Humidity by drip system, water dishes with bubblers ,daily misting of enclosure.

Substrate? Most don't need. But Rhamholeon and Brookesia do need it; preferrably, dried leaves or moss.
Plants? Yes. They like to hide in the foliage. You can use live and silk plants and vines. Favorites of chameleon keepers: schefflera and other lush full-leafed plants, vines and trees. Live plants have to be prepared for use.
Keep your silk plants and vines clean and beware of frayed leaves.
